something old, something new

"something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" is a phrase and ritual that is still practiced today as a good luck charm in the wedding celebrations around the globe.

An old mirror set against white panelled walls surrounded by fresh wild flower immediately  takes us back to a time of sea breezes, sunburnt shoulders and afternoon naps! A really easy and cheap way to add rich character to a otherwise bland room.

The combination of these four things, in everyday life,  never fail to evoke feelings of nostalgia and tranquility.

The combination of white and blue in itself, has a soothing almost hypnotic effect on the soul and it is this exact combination that always touches our spirit.

Bootsales and yard sales are the perfect opportunity to find unusual and retro pieces to add character.

This page aims to provide a dip in the ocean, a feeling of refreshment and ambiance that is always created by whites and blues, ocean accents and themes of nostalgia.

Who says money buys happiness?? Putting a little love and affection into an old kitchen can only create what money could not buy. Having a sparkling new kitchen is appealing,  but inserting a little character is a stamp of your personality.

My love of revamping old and creating new has endless possibilities and I try and apply this to any area of my life ranging from jewellery, interiors, and childrens nursery accessories.
